 The Doom of Men

by Erynne

Cold, so cold within

Fiery heat now sears my skin

At my father's touch

"The life of the Eldar

is leaving you--
how can you

give up so much?"

For all his wisdom he

will not see

the choice I've made,

was meant to be....

My blood may be shed

but it's worth the price

to be with my Elendil, for

even a single night

of dreaming....

I'll not turn  back

nor look ahead

Only now matters....

The dark of a lover's eyes

Kisses taste of wine

Arms tight around me

As I feel his heart beat--

Close he takes me, slow and sweet

I will live, will love, will know

mortal pleasure, mortal woe...

Woman to man,

Queen to his King....

Neither elven or One ring

Shall set aside this then--

Tonight is ours, alone

Let thought and futures go

Make this our 'forever'

for however long, I need not know...
